A chance encounter
I've always got lots of projects on. Some people plough through them relentlessly. I've never been like that - I tend wake up when the stars align and I can see a way forward to do something really interesting.
So when Chris Clor came in to show me his work when I was Creative Director at McCann Bristol, an alarm bell rung. I loved his style and the eternal comic fan in me cooed over the mix of realism, surrealism and dark themes.
I realised quickly, that this could be exactly the look to really bring Emmy and the Whale into a fantastic new vision. So when I left full-time advertising to concentrate on projects exactly like this. I called Chris to see if he wanted to collaborate. I was bowled over when he said yes. And meant it.
